A water share is a legally recognised, secure share of the water available to be taken from a declared water system. Water shares were created as part of the unbundling reforms.
Water shares may be high or low reliability, and are specified as a maximum volume of seasonal allocation that may be made against that share.
A water share is often held in conjunction with a water-use licence and delivery share.
