Since its introduction, the Victorian Water Register has been an essential part of Victoria’s entitlements framework, providing a central point of authoritative information and giving users the confidence that our water markets are operating as they should.

VWA 10 Year Strategy coverAs the market, technology, industry and community expectations continue to evolve, we need to review and clarify the Victorian Water Register's future direction.

This strategy reflects a partnership approach, providing a 10-year forward look for the Victorian Water Register developed collaboratively by DELWP and our partners.

In a future where the water entitlement framework will have to adapt to a changing climate and increasing water scarcity, it is only through working together that we can continue to provide trusted management of Victoria's water markets and, most importantly, secure and sustainable use of our water resources for industry, communities and the environment.

The implementation of the 10-year strategy is underway. A key priority of this work is the Victorian Water Register Transform Project, which aims to deliver a refreshed Register that meets user needs into the future.
