The Victorian Water Register, including MyWater and the broker portal will close for EOY processing at 5 pm 28 June 2024 and will re-open at 8:30 am 1 July 2024.

Important information regarding times and dates for the 2024–25 trade opportunity openings will be provided in late May.

If you are trading allocation or water shares before the end of the water year, please be aware of the important dates and times below.

For allocation trades within Victoria:

  • Paper-based applications for water allocation trades must be lodged with the water corporation by 5 pm on 21 June 2024 to ensure the water corporation can process the application in the 2023–24 water year. There is no guarantee that applications submitted after this time will be processed in the 2023–24 water year.
  • Online applications to trade allocation within Victoria, including applications made via the Broker Portal or the Broker API, must be submitted by 5 pm on 28 June 2024 for processing in the 2023 –24 water year.

For interstate allocation trade applications that require the approval of both states:

  • Applications for interstate allocation trades submitted online via the Broker Portal or the Broker API must be lodged by 5 pm on 17 June 2024 to ensure both states can process the application in the 2023–24 water year. There is no guarantee that interstate trade applications submitted after this time will be processed in the 2023–24 water year.
  • All interstate allocation trades involving Victoria that are submitted online via the Broker Portal or the Broker API will be processed manually from 5 pm on 27 June 2024.

For water share transfer applications:

  • Applications for water share transfers must be lodged with the water corporation by 5 pm on 14 June 2024 to ensure the water corporation can process the transfer by 5 pm 28 June 2024.
  • Please keep in mind the water corporation’s approval of the transfer is only stage one of the water share transfer transaction process. Once approved, both seller(s) and buyer(s) are required to sign the Transfer of Water Share form and submit to the Water Registrar for recording. To complete the recording step by 5 pm 28 June 2024, allow ample time to lodge the recording application with the Water Registrar after you have received the initial response from the water corporation. The Water Registrar aims to record all water share transfers that are submitted in recordable form as soon as possible.
  • You are reminded that when a water share transfer is recorded, the seller's allocation account will no longer be linked to that water share. Unused water allocation can only be carried over to the next water year if the allocation account is linked to an appropriate water share.
